The AI examines page titles, headings, and descriptions to find opportunities for contextual linking—helping you build better topic clusters and rescue pages that have no incoming links.

How It Works

Content Analysis — The AI examines each page’s title, H1 heading, meta description, and word count to understand what each page is about.
Structure Mapping — It maps your existing internal link structure to identify pages with weak connectivity.
Orphan Detection — Pages with no incoming internal links are flagged as high-priority targets for new links.
Smart Matching — The AI finds semantically relevant pages that should link to each other based on content similarity.
Anchor Text Generation — For each suggestion, the AI generates descriptive, SEO-friendly anchor text.

Using AI Link Suggestions counts as 1 AI credit from your monthly quota—the same as running an AI Review. Choose which analysis provides more value for each crawl.

Using Link Suggestions

Run a Crawl with SEO Analysis

Make sure SEO Analysis is enabled in your scan options. Link suggestions require page content data to work.

Navigate to Crawl Results

After the crawl completes, go to the crawl results page for your domain.

Find the Link Suggestions Section

Scroll to the Internal Link Opportunities section (Pro and Agency plans only).

Generate Suggestions

Click Generate Suggestions to start the AI analysis. This takes 10-30 seconds depending on site size.

Review and Implement

Browse suggestions, filter by category or priority, and implement the ones that make sense for your site.

Managing Suggestions

Mark as Implemented

After you’ve added a suggested link to your site, click Mark as Implemented to track your progress. Implemented suggestions remain visible but are de-emphasized.

Dismiss Suggestions

If a suggestion doesn’t make sense for your site, click Dismiss to hide it. Dismissed suggestions won’t appear in your list.

Filtering

Use the filter buttons to focus on specific types:

By Category — Show only orphan rescue, topic cluster, navigation, or related content
By Priority — Show only high, medium, or low priority suggestions

The AI suggests descriptive anchor text, but you should:

Verify it matches your content voice
Ensure it accurately describes the target page
Avoid keyword stuffing
Make it natural to read

Token Usage

AI Link Suggestions uses Claude Sonnet 4 for analysis. Token consumption varies based on site size:

Token costs are included in your subscription—there are no additional charges. The quota system ensures fair usage across all users.

Limitations

Content Requirements

Link suggestions work best when:

Pages have proper meta titles and H1 headings
Pages have descriptive meta descriptions
SEO Analysis was enabled during the crawl

Page Limits

To manage costs and processing time:

Pro — Analyzes up to 50 pages per request
Agency — Analyzes up to 100 pages per request

For larger sites, the AI samples the most important pages (based on existing link structure and crawl order).

One Analysis Per Crawl

You can only generate link suggestions once per crawl. To get fresh suggestions:

Run a new crawl with SEO Analysis enabled
Generate suggestions on the new crawl

Troubleshooting

”AI features not available on your plan”

Link suggestions require a Pro or Agency plan. Upgrade to access AI features.

”Monthly AI usage limit reached”

You’ve used all your AI credits for the month. Your quota resets on your billing date.

”No links found for this crawl”

The crawl didn’t discover any pages. Check that:

Your domain is verified
The site is accessible
The crawl wasn’t blocked by firewalls

”Crawl must be completed before generating suggestions”

Wait for your crawl to finish processing before requesting link suggestions.

Suggestions seem irrelevant

This can happen when:

Pages lack proper meta tags (AI has less context)
Content is very thin (< 100 words)
Pages are highly technical or niche

Improve your page metadata (titles, descriptions, H1s) for better AI suggestions. The AI relies on this content to understand what each page is about.
